Going through your “Personal Information” profile in Blackboard and making sure that your email address is correct, is an important early step as a student. Even if you’re not signed up for an online course, that simple action will help you reset your Blackboard password if you forget it later.
For fully online classes, email can be a major form of communication between instructors and their students. To avoid missing something significant from your instructor, be sure that the email address field in your Blackboard profile is correct when classes begin.
You should know that your unique student email account has been automatically entered in your Blackboard profile, but it does NOT work until you follow the steps to activate it. Activating your free Clark Gmail account is a good idea, since that is how Clark College will notify you with registration and financial aid information. If you already have an email account where you prefer to receive your mail, you can set up Gmail to forward to that address. For help with your Clark College Gmail account issues, contact 360-992-2010 or email Gmail support.
If you would rather use your own email address in Blackboard, where you normally check and send email, just change the default to your preferred address as follows:
After you have logged into Blackboard, select Personal Information, located under Tools on the left side of the screen.
Then select Edit Personal Information.
Enter your preferred email address in the appropriate field, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Submit.
